James Bernard Greene Jr. was born August 8, 1948 to the parents of Minnie Bell and James Bernard Greene, Sr. He was the 5th of 25 children. 

James accepted Christ at a young age and attended Mount Sinai Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Hill. At the age of 13, James became a lifelong member of Temple Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Pastor E.W. Ward, Sr., the late Pastor A.E. Campbell, Jr., and our current Pastor Sedric D. Veal, Sr. 

James attended the Cleveland Public Schools and graduated in 1966 from East Tech High School. He attended a program through Wooster College to become an electrician. Later he decided to go to nursing school to become a LPN. 

James worked at Sunny Acres Hospital for many years. He then worked at Dunbar Hospital until they closed. James also worked as a private nurse, which carried him throughout his career until his retirement in 1997. 

James was told that he had one son, whom he never met, but he became father to many of his siblings, nieces, and nephews. He was the “go to” guy when it came to cooking. He loved to be on the grill for every holiday and birthday. 

James was called from labor to reward on Wednesday, September 28, 2022.

James leaves to cherish his memory nine siblings: Oliver Greene, Harold Greene, Allen Greene, Evelyn Howard, Marian Greene-Douma (Mustafa), Marlene Small (Sydney), Earl Greene and Donald Greene, along with a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, cousins, and friends. 

James was proceeded his death by ten siblings: Sherman Williams, Rebecca Trent, Marguerite Benton, Mary Ann Johnson, Frederick Greene, Marie Greene, Robert (Bob) Greene, Lucio (Terry) Greene, Maddie Greene and Ronald Greene.
