James was born July 22, 1935 in Indianapolis to the late Paul Augustus and Marie (Holmand) Caudell.
James proudly served in the United States Army and later worked as a manager at Safeway Grocers until his retirement.
James is survived by his four children, Tony (Karen) Caudell, Mildred Townsend, Linda (Jay) Marlin, and Edgar (Jerretta) O’Haver Jr.; eight grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
James was preceded in death by his wife, Trula Marie Caudell; his parents, Paul and Marie Caudell; one brother, Richard Caudell; one grandson, Tyler Townsend.
