James Nelson June 6, 1955 – April 15, 2017 61, born in Los Angeles, CA to Harry Nelson and Diane Meerschaert Nelson and passed into eternal life on April 15, 2017 in Denver, CO. Jim attended Saint Bernadette Catholic School in Los Angeles for the majority of his primary education and graduated from Loyola High School, also in L.A. Upon graduation from high school, he attended Santa Monica College, LA Pierce College and Bakersfield College. He worked on his accounting degree while in college and was a self taught computer programmer. He obtained his private pilot license from Van Nuys airport and enjoyed flying 8 passenger Cessna planes for fun. Jim married Robin Gill in 1982 and moved to Colorado in 1983, and has claimed Colorado as his home ever since. He and Robin divorced in 1991 but remained friends ever since. He worked as an accountant for the majority of his adult life, most recently as a Chief Financial Officer at Liberty Home Products in Denver, CO since 1998. Jim’s greatest passion in life was his 5 children, Christopher, Danielle, Adam, Bryan and Jesse and 4 grandchildren, Donald, Abigail, Audrey and Angelita. There was nothing in life he wouldn’t sacrifice to ensure that his children were happy and loved. In addition to his children, Jim enjoyed Denver Broncos Football, the Republican Party, classic Rock and Roll, Whiskey, and of course, his mad air guitar skills (as observed in picture). There was never a soul that he met that he didn’t instantly extend an open heart to. He welcomed many into his home and ensured they were fed, entertained and happy. Jim is survived by his children Danielle Krehbiel and husband Nicholas Krehbiel of Lawrence, KS, Adam Nelson of Atlanta, GA, Bryan Nelson of Denver, CO, and Jesse Nelson and wife, Diamond Nelson of Denver, CO. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Donald Krehbiel, Abigail Krehbiel, Audrey Krehbiel and Angelita Nelson, his father, Harry Nelson and siblings Tanya Ojala, Larry Nelson, Ron Nelson and John Nelson as well as a many nieces and nephews and a countless number of friends. Preceding Jim in death were his mother, Diane Meerschaert Nelson, brother in law Don Ojala and his son, Christopher Nelson. We will forever miss your loud voice, happy disposition, fantastic selection in music, and of course, your air guitar. As you would say, “Catch you on the flip-side”. We love you so much!
