James Harris “Andy” Anderson of Carriere, MS, passed from this life into eternal life on Monday, March 15, 2021. He was 94. Born in Ridgeway, Texas, on December 15, 1926, he was known as “Jim” to Texas kin and “Andy” to his Mississippi family and friends. A child during the Great Depression and a Merchant Mariner during World War II, James survived a Kamikaze attack in Leyte Gulf, Philippine Islands to become a 21-year veteran of the U.S. Air Force, serving first as a cook and later as a radar technician. His Air Force service was followed by a second twenty-four year career as an electrician at the Mississippi Test Facility, now Stennis Space Center, during the exciting times of the Apollo Moon and the Skylab Programs. However, his greatest role in life was as a devoted husband of sixty years to his wife Yvonne, and as a loving father to their five children, Brenda Spence, Debbie Cox, Barbara Lee, and David Anderson, all of Carriere, MS, and James M. Anderson of Mobile Alabama; his twelve grandchildren; his ten great grandchildren; and his great-great grandson, three weeks old. He is also survived by his brother, Ronnie Anderson of Cumby, Texas; and several nephews and nieces from sisters who passed before him. He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him. James’ life of service to the Lord is capped by the nearly fifty years he spent as a faithful member and Deacon at Corinth Baptist Church, Nicholson, MS.
