James A. Dubuisson, Jr. the son of the late Elizabeth (Defrance) and James A. Dubuisson Sr, passed away peacefully on October 13, 2016 at the age of 89 years old with his children by his side.  Jimmy is survived by his sister-in-law, Lois Rodriguez (Grant), nieces, Mary Hurley and Carol Allen Zimmer (Stephen), cousin, Bruce Hurley ( Ilsa; child, Trey). He was the brother-in-law of the late Joan Allen and son-in-law of the late Alberta and Ruppert Busha. He has 7 grandchildren,  Cortney Bos, Chelsea Stevens, Cory Stevens, James A Dubuisson IV, Samantha Rose Dubuisson, Elizabeth Dubuisson, and the late Christopher Stevens.  He also has 4 great grandchildren, Tyler, Lily, and Violet Bos and Grace Stevens.  Jimmy lived his childhood in Lakeview and at 17, he joined the Navy.  He was in active duty in the Pacific during WW II and served as a machinist during his military tour.  After the war, Jimmy was Skipper of Ship 101, the Viking, and the Sea Explorer for the New Orleans chapter of the Sea Scouts where he taught young men to be future sailors.  He married the love of his life, the late Rosemary Busha Dubuisson, and settled in a small home in Old Metairie when their four children were born, Marsha Ann Dubuisson, James A. Dubuisson, III, Ruppert Martin Dubuisson (Victoria), and Sheila Stevens, (Wayne).  It was in the front of this modest home that “Jimmy D” began the construction of the Sea Cat, a 28 ft. yacht which gave birth to one of the most successful shipbuilding companies in Louisiana, Halter Marine, that he co- founded and operated for over 30 yrs.
