He was the oldest of 4 brothers: Richard (Dick), Claude (AI), and Blaine Dewey. In 1940 Jim enlisted in the US Army. After transferring to the Army Air Corps, he served in Iceland and China.
After the war, while working for a short time as a civilian, Jim was hired to help build a silo on the farm of Lee Eastwood. That is where he met “the one true love of his life” Donna Brown (Eastwood). On September 7, 1946, they married and together he and Donna had 5 children: Alan, Gary, Connie Roth, Jeff and Mark.
Jim re-enlisted in the Air Force and as a result the family traveled extensively throughout Europe while living in Germany. They also lived in several different states in the U.S. Jim retired in 1965 as a Major in the
