James A. Strife, 77

Troy James A. Strife, 77, of Troy died peacefully Friday, July 29,2005 at St Mary’s Hospital after a two year battle with pulmonary fibrosis. He was surrounded by his family and St Mary’s Hospice staff.

Born in Croghan, he was the son of the late Anthony P. and Veronica MacDonald Strife. He was the husband of the late Grace Brehm Strife.

Jim was a graduate of Father Leo Memorial High School. He was a NAVY veteran of the Korean War. He graduated from Votech (now HVCC) and became a plumbing supervisor at Trojan Hardware where he retired 42 years later.

He was a former member of the Naval Petty Officers Club, St. Joseph’s Holy Name Society, Germania Hall Association, Society of the Friends of St. Patrick, Emerald Athletic Club and his beloved Troy Lodge of Elks # 141 where he was Elk of the Year in 1996-97. Jim was a past Exalted Ruler, State VP and State District Deputy. He was also a member of the Plumbers and Steamfitters Union in Troy.

Jim is survived by his children, Tim (Angie) of Troy, Cyndi (Rick) McLaughlin of Troy and Bonnie(Bill)O’Connor of Saratoga Springs; his grandchildren, Ryan, Briana and Kaela McLaughlin; Patrick, Cara and Kaeleen O’Connor; his sister Beverly McCrickert of Greenlawn, a brother, Ken(Fran) Strife of Croghan; a brother-in-law, Seward Pittz and many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by sisters Sara (Bobby) Purcell of Belfort and Betty Jean.
