James A. Menning, age 79, of Salem, a loving and caring husband, father, grandpa and great grandpa, passed away surrounded by his family Saturday afternoon, August 3, 2013 at his home. He was born July 24, 1934 in Salem, the son of the late Edward and Bernice (Althouse) Menning. Mr. Menning was the owner of the former Menning Floor Covering for 53 years and retired in 2004. He lived in the area all his life and was a member of the Greenford Christian Church, the Small Group of the church, Columbiana County Farm Bureau and a past member of the Winona Ruritans. Survivors include his wife, Joanne (Johnson) Menning, whom he married June 16, 1957; a son, J. Ron (Jenny) Menning of North Sutton, New Hampshire and Shanghai, China; 2 daughters, Deb Stoffer of Uniontown and Diane Lynn Holbert of Salem; 2 sisters, Judith (Roger) Flading of Canton and Virginia (Dean) Ferguson of Salem; 2 brothers Edward Lee Menning of Annandale, Virginia and Gerald Ray (Caroline) Menning of Salem; 7 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.
