James Abraham Stoudt went to meet his Savior on Saturday September 18th, following a rapid decline in his health, at home in Quakertown surrounded by his family. He just celebrated his 82nd birthday. He was the loving husband of Darlene (Reeves) Stoudt to whom he was married for nearly 60 years.

Jim was raised on the family farm near Trumbauersville by Charles and Martha (Beun) Stoudt.

He was the youngest, and last surviving, of nine children who, with their spouses and extended families, provided decades of wonderful memories of camping, outdoor activities, and sharing in the work, sorrows and joys that this earthly life contained. He missed all of them greatly and mentioned them often: Lawrence Stoudt and Dorothy, Ernest Stoudt and Elizabeth, Charles Stoudt and Alida, Evelyn (Stoudt) Kollar and Michael, Dorothy (Stoudt) Landes and Roland, Willard Stoudt and Shirley, Shirley (Stoudt) Doncsecz and Louis, Martha (Stoudt) Stoudt and husband Merrill — who also was like a brother to Jim. Heavenly reunions will be sweet and his nieces and nephews will miss the ‘cool uncle’ who water-skied on the farm’s lake without falling and always had the souped-up cars.

He was athletic at nearly every sport and adept at nearly every trade, learning from his father and brothers and friends. He worked for a long period at Bucks County Enterprises (Bucksco) where he was a sheet metal fabricator and eventually shop foreman. He ended his career with many years as a heavy equipment operator at PennDOT, from which he retired.

He had been a member of Grace Bible Fellowship Church in Quakertown since 1949. The family is so thankful for the support they received during his brief illness and throughout his long time as a member of the church body.

He kept his lifelong dry sense of humor, his physical endurance and his desire not to cause bother to others up until his final days and his family also thanks the amazing team at Grand View Hospice.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by three sons and their families: James, who resided at his parents’ home in Quakertown, Jeff and his wife Kadishe (Spahija) Stoudt of Center Valley; and Jason and his wife Amy (Schubert) Stoudt of Coopersburg and four grandchildren who never failed to make Jim smile: Suraya, Theresa, Jack and Jacob. The last part of the family was Pop’s little buddy Murphy, nearly 17, who fought against his own weakening heart up until the weekend Pop went on hospice.
