James A. “Jim” Daniels, 90, of Jacksonville, IL died Saturday, July 2, 2016, at St. John’s Hospice in Springfield, IL.

He was born January 6, 1926 in Jacksonville, the son of George and Mary Greenwood Daniels. He married Kathryn L. “Kay” DeGroot on October 30, 1944 in Columbia, SC and she preceded him in death on March 26, 2012.

He is survived by several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Roy, Albert, and Jack Daniels, and two sisters, Rosie Watkins and Goldie Turner Moseley.

Jim owned and operated Daniels Furniture and Delivery Service for 56 years prior to his retirement. He served his beloved First Ward community as a City of Jacksonville Alderman for 28 years until he could no longer continue due to his health. He also served in the US Army during WW II.

Jim was a member of Calvary Baptist Church, United Commercial Travelers, and the N.E.E.D. Committee. He and his wife were always familiar faces and faithful attendees at numerous community events.
