Jacquelyn (Anderson) Bauer, 81, of Bridgman, formerly of Harbert, died Thursday morning, February 14th, 2008.
Jackie was born February 25, 1926 in Harbert to Marguerite (Whitmeyer) and Carl Anderson. She married Warren Bauer in 1945. One of the greatest joys of Jackie and Warren’s lives was founding and overseeing the operation of the Chikaming Little League Ballpark on their farm property on Harbert road.
In 1956, when they heard that the community was going to cancel little league because of no ball diamond to play on, with help from family and friends they built a “Field of Dreams” on their property complete with lights and a concession stand. The ballpark served the community for 20 years.Other joys of Jackie’s were spending time with children, gardening, and baking.
She loved sharing her cookies with family and friends. Her generosity and compassion for children will remain a lasting memorial to her. If you wish to add to this memorial and recognize Jackie’s loving presence on earth, please do an act of simple kindness in her honor. Her family thanks you. Family members include a son, Andrew (Jennifer) Bauer of Bridgman; grandchildren, Zachary and Camille; her brother, Carl (Shirley) Anderson of Harbert and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Warren (2001), and her sisters Dolores Mischke and Susan Harte.
