1st Corinthians 13:13

“And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.”

This verse from 1st Corinthians exemplifies the life of Jacqueline Marvene Bledsoe who lived each day as a shining example of God’s love. Her selflessness, humble spirit and loving, generous nature touched many souls throughout her life of 79 years.

Marvene Bledsoe aka “Bean” was born in Riverview Alabama on November 19th, 1937. She married Robert Donald Bledsoe, her childhood sweetheart in 1957 at age 19.

This romance and marriage lasted for 59 years until her recent passing. Her loving husband present at her bedside as she left this earthly plain for glory in Heaven.

Marvene was a dedicated Navy wife for 20 years while her devoted husband Donald served in the U.S. Navy. Both she and her surviving husband Donald were very active members of the First Christian Church of Riverview and volunteers throughout the community of Valley.

Marvene also served as membership chair, treasurer, and taught Sunday school during her many years of service within the First Christian Church of Riverview. She was appointed the first female elder in the history of the First Christian Church of Riverview, which was established in the year 1897.  Marvene was also a retiree from West Point Pepperell, where she was employed for 25 years in the Fairfax weave shop, working night shift.

Throughout her life, Marvene was a devoted daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. In all of her roles, she embodied the love of Christ by her devotion to those around her. Her patience should be an example for all of us and her wisdom and sense of humor will be missed by those close to her. But will live on in our hearts and in those of her grandchildren, family, and friends. She is survived by her husband Robert Donald Bledsoe of Riverview, son, Robert Gentry Bledsoe of San Diego, grandchildren, Emily, Aaron, and Ethan of San Diego, and brother, Ervin Bailey of Riverview.
