Jacqueline J. “Jackie” Roberts, 71, of 3527 Gordon Road, died at 3:45 p.m. Sunday (Aug. 20, 2006) at home after an extended illness.

She was born Oct. 28, 1934, in Mishawaka to Thomas A. and Irene L. (Frederick) Dean. She married Drexel H. “Mickey” King in Osceola in 1952. She married Richard E. “Dick” Roberts in Elkhart in 1986. Both husbands preceded her in death, along with one son, Mickey T. King, who died in 1996.

She is survived by one son, Terry D. King of Elkhart; two grandsons; and one sister, Marilyn E. (Daniel B.) Burns of Denver, Ind.

Mrs. Roberts had worked in the restaurant/hospitality business since she first waited tables in the early 1960s. By the mid 1980’s, she had become the banquet sales manager for the Weston Plaza in Elkhart, where she then served as the hotel general manager until 1998. She then became a warranty processor for Monaco Coach, where she remained until her health required her early retirement.

Mrs. Roberts was a member of the Elkhart Ladies of the Moose Lodge 599 as well as the Ladies Auxiliary of DAV 19 of Elkhart and the American Legion Post 143 in Bristol. She was a 1952 graduate of Mishawaka High School. She enjoyed interior designing and traveling with her sister.
