At the age of 16, she graduated from Parkersburg High School, and entered the Cincinnati Conservatory of Music, earning a Bachelor of Music in Voice, Summa Cum Laude. Upon graduation, she went to New York, where she was featured soloist in houses of worship and on Broadway. She was in the Broadway musical “Inside USA” and she was an original cast member of “South Pacific.” While in a dance class in New York, Jackie met the love of her life, and future husband, Harvey R. Langee. Upon his acceptance to Stanford University Medical School, Jackie and Harvey packed up their children, Joanna and Hank, and moved to Palo Alto, California. While there, Jackie continued her singing career with different ensembles and performed with the San Francisco Opera Company. Jackie and Harvey had two more children, Christopher and Leslie, and in 1968, they moved to Gainesville, Florida, where Harvey became a professor with the University of Florida’s Department of Psychiatry. In 1973, Jackie and Harvey opened a private practice in psychiatry, which she successfully managed until his retirement in 1997.
