On Monday January 2, 2023, Jacob Leonard Overcash ended his struggles with mental illness and found peace in the arms of Jesus.

Jacob was born on April 28, 1989, to Kenneth Odell Overcash, Jr. of Salisbury and Brenda Miller Overcash, also of Salisbury at Hahn Air Base, Germany. He attended Trinity Wesleyan Church and accepted Christ as his Savior when he was a boy. He also showed his love for others by volunteering at a local nursing home when he was in middle school. In his youth, Jake enjoyed playing sports, especially soccer. He later shared his love of soccer with his children, Alexis and Rylann, and coached their teams for several seasons. As an adult, he worked various construction jobs, mostly for R & L Glover Enterprises where he was well love and treated like family by Bob and Linda Glover and the rest of their family. He was skilled and took pride in his work. He will be remembered for his love for his children, his smile, his laughter, his playful spirit and his genuine heart full of love.

Jacob was predeceased by the love of his life and mother of his children Samantha Renay Lunsford on May 31, 2014. He was also preceded in death by his paternal grandparents Kenneth O. Overcash, Sr. and Joyce Richard; and maternal grandparents Chuck Mentus and Leonard Miller.

In addition to his parents who both loved him very much, he is survived by the joys of his life, his daughter, Alexis Grace Overcash and his son, Rylann Leonard Overcash. Also surviving are sister Mackenzie (Matthew) Whitley, grandmother Margaret Mentus, and grandfather Thomas Richard. He is also survived by nephews Brock, Daxter, Milo, and Lincoln. He will be fondly remembered and missed by his aunts and uncles and many cousins who were a big part of his childhood. He will also be missed by his beloved pets, dog Max and cat D.J.

Jacob’s family thanks everyone for the kindness and prayers extended to them in this difficult time.
