Mr. Jackson “Leon” Buttrum, 79, of Newnan, passed away Friday, November 7, 2014, at his residence. He was born June 20, 1935, in Troup County, GA to the late Jessie L. Buttrum & Mattie Meacham Buttrum.

Leon served as an SP3 in the Army during the Korean conflict. He attended Perry Business School and worked at Callaway Mills in LaGrange. He moved to Newnan and worked as a machine operator at James Rivers until retirement. He liked sports, fishing, telling jokes, and collecting knives. As a young man, he enjoyed whittling wood making guns and cars. He attended Arnco Baptist Church and loved his family, everyone called him Pawpaw.

Survivors include wife of 55 years, Nancy Prince Buttrum; daughters, Renatha (Jerry) Helton and Kimi Buttrum; sisters, Evelyn (Grover) Kelly, Martha Shellnut, and Gertie Mae Alsobrook; grandchildren, Chris (Candi) Helton, Meredith (Brady) West, Leigh LaRose, and Brigette Helton; great-grandchildren, Ashlyn, Addison, Graham, Clayton, Jude, and Huston.
