Helen “Jackie” Scholle, formerly of Silver City, New Mexico, passed away surrounded by her loving family at her home in Idaho Falls, Idaho, on July 11, 2020.
The daughter of Adam and Delilah Rode, Jackie was born on June 3, 1940 in Portland, Oregon. Early in life, Jackie joined the Navy, became a dental assistant, and married Carl W. Scholl in Winter Haven, California, in 1959. Their busy lives kept them moving around the country from coast to coast, but Jackie still managed to become a legal secretary, remodel several homes, refurbish antiques, and raise three children. They retired in Silver City, New Mexico, in 1976 and divorced in 1982. While working at Western New Mexico University, she enrolled in the School of Business and Economics and earned her MBA.
Jackie moved to Idaho Falls, Idaho, in 2004 and kept busy in her retirement with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Jackie was an avid reader, a world-traveler, and her hunger for learning always kept her up to date on current events and the latest news. To the end, she encouraged her family, constantly telling them how proud she was of them.
She is survived by her children, LaWanda (Scott) Wold, Sue Ann (Kenny) Culbertson, and Carl Ward (Yvette) Scholle. She is also survived by her siblings, Shirlee (Neil) Miller, Janet (Eldon) Butler, and Dan (Vicki Bowers) Rode, along with seven grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren. She is smiling down on us with her parents; her sister, Gloria Jean “Bobbie” Taylor; her infant daughter, Kathy Kay Scholle; and grandson, Ryan Culbertson.
