Jackie P. Melton, 73, of Jacksonville, IL died Friday, April 14, 2017, at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield, IL.
He was born October 5, 1943 in Lincoln, IL, the son of George and LaDaisey Morrison Melton. He married Mary Ann Graddy on January 1, 1981 in Lincoln and she survives.
He is also survived by four children, Terri Weah of Taylorville, Holly Porter of Washington, Steve Hunt (wife, Jean) of Eagan, MN, and Mark Hunt (wife, Maureen) of Braidwood; seven grandchildren; a great grandchild; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Betty McKinley; and three brothers, Vernon, George and Bud Melton.
Jackie was retired from the Illinois Department of Corrections following a distinguished 30 year career as a correctional officer. He was a member of the Jimmy Swaggart Ministries.
