Jackie Lee Davenport was born June 7, 1936 to S.F. and Esther Inez Davenport in Courtney Oklahoma. He passed from this life August 24, 2022.
Jackie Lee was a graduate of Marietta High School in 1955. He enlisted in the United States Air Force April 22, 1963 and was stationed at Lackland Air Force base. After his discharge, Jack partnered in the family business with his dad “Jack” and his brother Don Davenport to run D&H Auto Salvage and Wrecker Service in Ardmore. For more than 5 decades Jackie Lee owned and operated the Salvage at 1600 and 1900 Refinery Rd until his retirement in 2017. Jackie Lee’s retirement from the salvage business consisted of a new endeavor in Davenport’s Small Engine Repair just around the corner on Monroe Street. Working was Jack’s passion and it showed in his relationships with the people he came in contact with over the years.
Jackie Lee loved life and the people around him. Whether it be camping at Lake Murray in the old blue school bus, water-skiing and tubing with his kids and their friends in his beloved green ski boat, dancing the night away with his wife Gloria, sight-seeing on a trip to New York with his grandkids, or visiting with all of his aunts, uncles and cousins at the many family reunions over the years, Jackie Lee loved to spend time with his family. He loved a new adventure and his most precious purpose in life was being the best “Poppi” in the world to his grandkids. Jackie Lee never passed up a chance to spend time with his grandchildren. Frequent sleepovers, trips to watch sporting events near and far, dance recitals, and holiday getaways kept Poppi and Mimi busy.
Jackie Lee was preceded in death by his parents S.F. “Jack” and Esther Inez Davenport, brother Don Davenport, and numerous beloved aunts, uncles, and cousins. He is survived by his wife of the home, Gloria Davenport; former wife, Judy Lafitte, mother of daughter, Karen Davenport and husband, Grant MacManus; former wife, Joyce Davenport, mother of daughter, Brooke Byers and fiancé JW Rankin; son, Daren Davenport and wife, Dana; and step-son Robert Musgrave and wife Susan; step-son, Butch Knight; step-daughter, Deborah Bogumil; granddaughters: Connor Byers, Emma Byers, Katie Davenport, Kelcey Davenport, and Karli Davenport; step- granddaughters: Emily Bogumil, Sara Bills and husband Josh, step-grandchildren: Peyton Bills and Bentley Bills; Elizabeth Grim and husband, Cody, and their son Oliver; Scott Musgrave and wife Andrea; and his sister in law Evylene Davenport and two nephews John Kelly Davenport and wife Macy, their children Sunny and Ty; and Justin Davenport and son Jack; and Jackie Lee and Gloria’s special nephew, Dillon Cranford.
