Muncie – Jackie “Jack” Joe Devers, 50, passed away unexpectedly wednesday, October 30, 2013, at Community Hospital in Anderson.
Jack was born in Muncie on January 6, 1963, the son of William Ransom and Barbara (Whitaker) Devers, and was a 1981 graduate of Muncie Central High School. He later attended Ball State to be an Art Teacher.
Mr. Devers was employed at Rural King in Muncie for 7 years. Jack told everyone that he bled purple for Central and loved to brag about the state titles they held. He was Co-Founder of White Buffalo Society in Muncie and held many positions, and would help in any area they needed him. Jack was an organ donor and a hero to his family and friends. He was a very giving person. Jack enjoyed being a grandpa and loved caring for them immensely. He took them to doctor appointments; baby sat them and would do anything for his babies. He enjoyed life and all that it had to offer. He enjoyed flea markets, auctions, hunting, fishing, rock collecting, and he loved animals.
Jack is survived by his soulmate of 18 years, Rebecca “Becca” Devers, Anderson, five children, Kelli Marie Devers, (Companion-Ryan McIntire), Muncie, Derrick Floyd Parrish, (wife-Shawna), New Castle, Eric Tyler Parrish, (wife-Sara), Greenwood, Andrea Lynn Parrish, (companion-Jon), Anderson, and Courtney Rene Devers, (companion-Chris), Muncie; two brothers, William Devers, (wife-Linda), Muncie, and Dan Devers, (wife-Lori), Jonesboro; eight grandchildren, Colin Spoonemore, Alexis Parrish, Zayne Parrish, Jerek Parrish-Mantz, Trenton Parrish – Paschal, Alexzavier Devers-Murphy, Hailee Parrish, Hayden Parrish-Paschal; his mother-in-law, Mary Poore, New Castle; a brother-in-law, Floyd Freeman Poore, (wife-Angela), Ringgold, Georgia; three sisters-in-law, Rachel Luellen, (husband-Andy), New Castle, Rhonda Day, (companion-Ricky), New Castle, and Renee Anderson, (husband-Tim), New Castle; a special friend, Rhonda Mitchell, Muncie; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a grandson, Eric Zane Parrish; and his father-in-law, Floyd Poore.
