Jack W. Chapman, 82, of Freeport, died Sunday, June 1, 2008, at Stephenson Nursing Center after a lengthy illness.
Born June 26, 1925 in Freeport he was the son of Clarence and Isabell (Gugger) Chapman. He married Grace Gigliotti June 9, 1951.
Jack served with the Army Air Corp during World War II. He was awarded 3 medals including the Air Medal with 3 oak leaf clusters.
Jack attained his CLU certification and wrote life and health insurance for over 40 years in Freeport. He made the Million Dollar Roundtable in 1963. He semi retired in 2001.
He enjoyed golfing, playing with his grandchildren, ice cream, reading, and was a die hard Bulls and Cubs fan.
Mr. Chapman was baptized into the Christian Faith in July of 2007. He was presently attending the Church of Christ in Freeport.
Surviving are his wife, Grace G. of Freeport; daughters, Barbara (Ronald) Samuelson of Freeport, Nancy O’Neil of Tucson, Arizona, Carol Chapman of Freeport; two sons, John (Nancy) Chapman of West Lafayette, Indiana, James (Darla) Chapman of Olathe, Kansas; 10 grandchildren, Marcus, Matthew, and Gracie Samuelson, Ashley and Jack (April) O’Neil, Jay and Scott Chapman, Brandon, BreAnna, and Brock Chapman; two great grandchildren, Colby and Tyler O’Neil; 1 brother, Robert P. (Sandra) Chapman of Freeport.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and 1 sister, Marilyn Laux Tibbits.
