Jack passed away Saturday, December 14, 2013 at his home.
Jack was born November 6, 1933 in Norfolk the son of Daniel and Gertrude (Schaecher) Smith. He graduated from Battle Creek High School. Jack married Alice Praeuner on January 6, 1954 in Battle Creek. He worked as a lineman and superintendent for Elkhorn Rural Public Power until retiring.
Jack served on the school board, served on the counting board and was a past elder for the St. John Lutheran Church. He had a great passion for playing golf, and enjoyed bowling for many years.
Jack is survived by his wife Alice Smith of Battle Creek, three daughters, Pamela (Jim) Henrickson, Lori Smith of Battle Creek, and Lisa Alberts of Norfolk, five brothers, Chester Smith of Neligh, Arden Smith, Danny (Pete) Smith, Ronald Smith all of Battle Creek, and Barry Smith of Arizona, three sisters Margaret (Peg) Boyer of Battle Creek, Mamie Prochaska, and Sandie Davis both of Oregon, seven grandchildren, and four great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one daughter Patricia Smith, two brothers, Darold Smith, and Donald Smith, two sisters Darlene (Dee) Oliver and Brenda Graber.
