Jack Morris passed away Wednesday, March 4, 2009 peacefully, at 86 years of age, in Fountain Hills, AZ. Formerly of Minnetonka, MN, Jack was born in Wilksbarre, PA on May 22, 1922, to John and Ann Howells Morris. He was preceded in death by his sister Maria. Jack’s love of music was the core of his being, next to his family and started playing the trumpet at an early age. His father served in WWI and belonged to the American Legion, so naturally Jack played for the Veterans every Memorial Day. As Jack got older, he and a friend would hitchhike to Atlantic City to hear the big bands like Stan Kenton, Tommy Dorsey and Glenn Miller, who were some of his favorites. After he graduated from West Chester College, Jack played with several different bands, the last one being Jan Savitts, which backed Frank Sinatra at the Paramont Theatre, in New York. Jack met and married Mary Bradford, the love of his life, in Hollywood, CA in 1946. When the Band’s business crashed, Jack decided to teach music in public schools. He got his masters degree at the University of Minnesota and became a Guidance Counselor at Hopkins High School in Minnesota, where he taught for 37 years. He and Mary had three children, Jack Jr., Mike who is married to Tracie, and Michele who is married to Bruce Regan. Jack and Mary have 5 grandchildren, Erin and Kendall Regan, Max, Halle and Ryan Morris.
