Mr. Scoggins passed away Wednesday, September 28, 2022 at Glenwood Regional Medical Center at the age of 78. He is preceded in death by his parents, Louis and Sadie Scoggins; sister, Margaret Nolan; and brothers, Aubrey Scoggins, Eldred Scoggins, and Billy Scoggins.
He was a member of First United Methodist Church of West Monroe. He was a veteran of the United States Marine Corp and a graduate of Louisiana State University, with a degree in forestry. Mr. Scoggins was a successful businessman having owned and operated Scoggins Supply Company in Mer Rouge for almost forty years. He was dedicated to his community as well, serving on the board of directors of Morehouse General Hospital, MEDCO, and the Morehouse Chamber of Commerce. Above and beyond all of that, he loved his family dearly, and loved visiting with his grandchildren at every opportunity possible. His hobbies included gardening and cooking and he was an avid LSU fan, as well.
Survivors include his daughter, Laura Achord and fiancé Todd Tarver; siblings, Hazel Lambert, Sybil Stevenson, Nancy Sivils, and Sadie Strahan; grandchildren, Austin Marshall Achord, Mary Blake Achord, and Grayson Achord; very close friend and mother of his daughter, Mary Dale Scoggins; and a host of nieces and nephews.
