SONDERGARD, Jack L. Portage passed away Friday, September 6, 2013. Jack was born January 22, 1926 in Avoca, IA, the son of the late John and Helen Sondergard. He was a resident of Portage for 45 years and worked as a sales representative for the Kirsch Company in Sturgis, MI for 23 years.
Jack served in the United States Navy, was a graduate of the University of Iowa and was a devoted member of St. Michael Lutheran Church of Portage. He was preceded in death by his parents; and his first wife, Marianne Sondergard in 1996.
Jack is survived by his wife, Marlene Sondergard; his children, Kathy Townsend of Old Say Brook, CT, John Rhonda Sondergard of Cedarburg, WI and Mark Dawn Sondergard of Saginaw, MI; grandchildren, Jacob Sondergard, Molly Blair, Megan Sondergard, Monica Stone, Elizabeth Townsend and Patrick Townsend; a sister and brother-in-law, Norma and Straat Eichelberger of Avoca, IA; a brother-in-law, Eugene March; nieces and nephews.
