Jack I. Panish, 84 years old, a 36 year veteran of the U.S. Navy, passed away peacefully on March 18, 2011 at Norwalk Hospital. He was the beloved husband of 62 years of Lillian (Smath) Panish. Jack was born on June 11, 1926 in the Bronx, NY, the son of the late Isidore and Julia Panish. At the age of 17 he enlisted in the U.S. Navy where he served during WWII, Korea and Cuba.
Jack married Lillian in September of 1948 and was a resident of Norwalk for 54 years. He was a member of the VFW and an avid bowler on the Continental League at Rip Van Winkle Lanes. After retirement they spent time taking trips to the Bahamas, Cape Cod and Mohegan Sun.
In addition to his wife Lillian, he is survived by his daughter Kathy Avery and her husband Cliff of Norwalk, Grandson David Stabell, Jr. and his wife Vicki of Norwalk, and Granddaughter Ssgt. Amanda Stabell USAF, of Warner Robins, GA. He is predeceased by his daughter Cynthia and two sisters. He was a wonderful husband, father and grandpa who always put his family first and will be missed by all.
