Jack Hill II, known to family, friends and colleagues as Bunker, passed away peacefully on July 1, 2023 at age 76 in Reynoldsburg, Ohio. He was born to parents Jack and Alice Hill of Springfield, Ohio on August 14, 1946.
He is survived by Molly his wife of 53 years, children Chip (Adrienne) Hill of Atlanta, Ann Hemingway of Brooklyn, Marcy (Curt) Singh of Indianapolis, four grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews, and his brother Ray (Toni) Hill. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister Peachie.
Bunker was a proud letterwinner for the Indiana University men’s swim team in 1965-1966 under legendary coach James “Doc” Counsilman. Throughout the rest of his life, Bunker was rarely happier than when he was in a pool either swimming laps or playing with his kids and grandkids.
Bunker spent his adult life working for his father’s small business, defense contractors, the State of Ohio, and most enjoyably, his brother’s restaurant. Outside of work he found great joy in simple things like a game of cards around the kitchen table, a tomato from his backyard garden, his wife Molly’s fresh baked cookies, or watching a ball game with friends and family.
Always ready to greet anyone with a smile and firm handshake or hug, Bunker was also quick to express gratitude.
