Jack H. Foraker, Sr., 95 of Iuka, passed away Saturday, March 12, 2016, at his home surrounded by his family. He was born March 10, 1921, in Peoria, the son of Clarence W. Foraker and Laura M. (Hopple) Foraker.
He married Wanda Joan Meeks on May 7, 1946, and they later divorced.He is survived by two sons: Jack H. Foraker, Jr. and wife Mary of Shattuc and Jonathan Foraker and wife Cheryl of Florida; two daughters: Laura Fields of Shattuc and Heidi Pomeroy and husband Ferrin of Iuka; 11 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, and 11 great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two daughters: Peggy Elaine Foraker and Wanda Lavonne Foraker, a granddaughter: Ashley Rae Ellis, three brothers, and two sisters.Jack served in the U.S. Army on the battlefields of Europe during WWII. He received three Bronze Stars and a Purple Heart. He was a devout Christian and attended the Iuka United Methodist Church. He was a laborer until retirement. Jack was a gifted artist, he enjoyed gardening and the outdoors. Most of all he loved spending time with his family and friends.
