John W. “Jack” Erwin, 69, of Three Oaks, Michigan died at his home, Monday afternoon, October 10, 2011, with his family by his side after a valiant battle with cancer. Jack was born November 9, 1941, in Chicago, the son of John and Margaret (Biebel) Erwin.

After graduating from Amundsen High School, he earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice from Lewis University. He served his country in the US Army. Jack was a retired City of Chicago Police Officer and moved to Michigan to make his home. He was a member of St. Mary of the Assumption Church in Three Oaks where he was an usher. Jack was also a member of the Knights of Columbus and the Chicago F.O.P. He was an avid reader who enjoyed going on road trips. Jack loved to be outside amongst the trees, especially if it involved playing a round of golf.

Survivors include his wife, Diane, whom he married on April 29, 1995; daughter Sarah (fiance Todd Hebebrand) Erwin of Frisco, CO; stepdaughters, Nicole Kintonis of Wilmette, Illinois, Dina (Rick) Rizzi of Des Plaines, Illinois and Paula (Casey) Hess of Chicago; grandchildren, Vaughn, Avery, Otto, and Nelson; sister Katherine Gruber of Chicago and brother Thomas of Chicago.

He was preceded in death by his brother Richard.
