Jack E. “Pappy” Myers, 80, of Galesburg, died at 10:15 p.m. Friday, March 14, 2014 at Marigold Health Care and Rehab, Galesburg. Pappy was born July 9, 1933 in West Virginia, the son of James and Opal (Lemasters) Myers. Pappy married Nancy E. Dodd in 1955.
She preceded him in death in July 1999. Jack was a proud US Army veteran. He worked for OMC Gale Products for many years. Pappy was an avid bingo player and loved to listen to and watch sports, especially the Chicago Cubs and Pittsburgh Steelers. He also enjoyed all local sports. Pappy is survived by one daughter, Brenda King of Galesburg; two brothers, Tom Myers and Johnny Myers, both of West Virginia; and two sisters, Helen Anthony of Seattle, WA and Lavaine Stewart of Jacksonville, FL. He is also survived by 6 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two daughters, Connie Strom and Maryann Myers; two sisters; and one brother.
