Dr. Jack Dustman, 78, entered heaven Saturday, November 13, 2010. Jack was born on February 27, 1932, in Rockford, Illinois. While growing up in Rockford, Jack loved going to Chicago Cubs baseball games and golfing with his dad and uncles.
Jack served in the U.S. Army where he was stationed in Hawaii. Following his Honorable Discharge, he attended Arizona State University (ASU) where he graduated with his undergraduate and Master of Business Administration degrees.
Jack then moved to California where he taught at the University of Southern California and California State Polytechnic in Pomona. He lived in Mt. Baldy where he met and married Jeanne Cummings. While in California, Jack attended the University of Southern California (USC) where he graduated with his Doctor of Business Administration degree. Jack also taught at Cal Lutheran University and lived in Thousand Oaks, CA.
In 1969, Jack moved his family to Flagstaff, Arizona and began his career at Northern Arizona University (NAU) where he was a Professor of Business Administration for forty years. He retired as Professor Emeritus in May of 2010.
Jack was a community leader and enjoyed serving his community. When he lived in Mt. Baldy, he worked as a volunteer firefighter and was active in his church. In Northern Arizona, he served as an advisor for the Sedona Fire Department, was President of the Continental Country Club, and was a coach and board member for Continental Little League. He served as an arbitrator for NAU and various organizations throughout Northern Arizona. Jack was very active in his church and enjoyed singing in the church choir. He was a supporter of the NAU Lumberjack Athletic Association.
Jack enjoyed music, sports, animals, and the community of Flagstaff. He was an avid golfer and a gifted pianist and singer. He sang in the Flagstaff Master Chorale for many years and played the piano for numerous college, church, and community events. Jack enjoyed the outdoors and the natural beauty of Northern Arizona. He spent quality time with friends and family, golfing, cutting wood, hiking, and enjoying nature. Jack loved his pets and the natural wildlife of Northern Arizona.
Jack was a loving husband, father, and friend. He loved his family and is survived by his wife, Jeanne, sons David of Mesa, AZ, John (Elyse) of Studio City, CA, and daughter(s) Paula (Scott) Martin of Overland Park and Lisa (Jon) Abrahamson of Lakeview, MN, and four grandchildren.
