Jack Dennis Fudge, retired businessman and volunteer, died February 2, 2020 at his home in Oxford, Miss. He was 88.. Robert Allen Officiating.  Mr. Fudge was born in Oxford, Miss. on May 15, 1931 to the late Earl and Esther (née Walters) Fudge. He married Faye Wood in 1953. He was a life-long resident of Oxford with a multi-generational family history in Lafayette County and was a member of the First Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his sister, Esther Earl “Candy” Slay.  Jack graduated from University High School in Oxford, Miss. in 1948. He proudly served his country during the Korean Conflict in the US Army Reserves receiving an honorable discharge as Sergeant First Class. Jack also earned a B.Accy. from the University of Mississippi.  Mr. Fudge was co-owner and business manager of the family business, Fudge’s Grocery, which was located on South Lamar just off the Square for 40 years until the store closed in 1979. The Fudge family had a long history in the grocery business, including the family store in Fudgetown and the original City Grocery. Jack also served as Director of Administrative Services of the North Mississippi Regional Mental Health Center-Oxford (now Communicare) and Living Independence Specialist for Project LIFE-North Mississippi/Oxford.  As a volunteer, he was passionate about helping seniors and people with disabilities. He was the Mississippi AARP Health Program Coordinator and a member of the AARP State Leadership Committee. He served as the president of the Oxford Jaycees, co-chair of the Lafayette County TRIAD/SALT Council, member of the Lafayette County Coordinating Council, and Advisory Board member of the Three Rivers Area on Aging.  In addition to his wife of 66 years, he leaves behind his daughter, Jacque Fudge and her spouse, Malcolm Cullen, of Santa Rosa Beach, Fla.; son, Jeff Fudge and his wife, Sonya, of Destin, Florida; and three grandchildren, Sarah Kate (Domenico), Molly (Andrew) and Jacob..O. Box 588, Oxford, MS 38655; or the charitable organization of choice.
