Jack Davis Wolff, 94
Okeechobee – Jack Davis Wolff passed away peacefully on Easter morning, April 4, 2021. Jack was born on October 7, 1926, in Okeechobee, Florida, the second of two sons born to Jesse and Mattiette Wolff. Throughout his life Jack was an active member of the Methodist Church, singing in the choir, and participating in Sunday School and United Methodist Men. Jack loved the outdoors and enjoyed gardening, playing golf, traveling, and joining in family gatherings. Music was a big part of his life in high school, college, and the Army as he sang in choirs and played the clarinet, piano, and saxophone in bands.
Jack played football and basketball and enjoyed horseback riding, swimming, and boy scouts. In 1942 he earned the rank of Eagle Scout and tried to live by the ideals of scouting. After graduating from high school in 1944 he enlisted in the Army and was stationed in Japan. He attended FSU and the University of Florida until 1949 when he returned home to work on the ranch with his dad and his brother, Jo.
In 1957 Jack and Jo formed Wolff Brothers Dairy, operating it together until 1990 when Jack and his son, Ken, moved to Georgia and continued in the dairy business for a total of 50 years. The brothers also had a citrus grove which is now becoming a sod farm. Honors Jack received include induction into the Kiwanis Club Hall of Fame and recognition at a Farm-City Luncheon for years of service in agriculture in Okeechobee.
He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather and will be missed by his friends and family.
Jack is survived by his wife of 61 years, Opal Wolff, of Okeechobee; daughter, Wendy Alexander (Jim), of Gainesville, Florida; son, Ken Wolff (Wray-Anne), of Bristol, Georgia; five grandchildren; and brother, Jo Wolff (Sylvia), of Okeechobee.
