Jack D. Spangenberg, 78, of Bethlehem, died Saturday, July 2, 2011, at Lehigh Valley Hospital Muhlenberg, Bethlehem. He was the husband of Janet L. (Wagner) Spangenberg for 55 years. Born in Bethlehem, he was the son of the late Walter and Elsie (DeWalt) Spangenberg. He proudly served his country in the Army during the Korean War. Jack was employed by Bethlehem Steel Corp. in the shipping and receiving dept. for 30 years, until retiring. He was a member of St. Stephen’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Bethlehem, Golden Hillers of Fountain Hill, VFW Post #2124 and the Fountain Hill American Legion Post #406. Survived: in addition to his loving wife Janet are daughters Deborah Nansteel and her husband Bernard of Allentown, Brenda S. Fox of Fountain Hill, Tami J Spangenberg of Eagleville; son Craig A Spangenberg and his wife JoAnn of Bethlehem; sister Janet Field of Bethlehem, brother William Spangenberg of Allentown; 5 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his son Jack D. Spangenberg, Jr., in 1996.
