Jack had several health issues that showed up in his late 50s. These issues made it difficult for him to hear and as it progressed, he also had nerve pain which affected his balance. Despite this in his retirement he moved out to his retirement ranch which he named “Eagle Island Ranch” located Eagle Idaho where he and his wife Stephanie raised Hanoverian horses. They traveled to Germany where they purchased horses and had them transported to their ranch where they trained them in dressage. Jack had always wanted to get back to farming and ranching as he had fond childhood memories. He enjoyed working with his hands and taking care of his horses. As he aged, he sold most of his ranch property and built a very nice house on a portion of his property where he and Diane lived. He grew hay and had a very significant vegetable garden which he tended to until it became too difficult to maintain. Jack very much enjoyed his living in the country area between the rivers in Eagle Idaho.
In his 80s he moved to a smaller house in Eagle Idaho. As he aged there was a need for him to have better medical care, so Jack and Diane moved in to assist living in Boise Idaho.
