Jack C. Stine, 86 of Freeport passed away peacefully with family by his side on Tuesday, March 27, 2018. He was born March 23, 1932 in Freeport to William and Bernice (Jordan) Stine.
Jack graduated from Freeport High School in 1950. He married Norma Hibst on November 1, 1952 in Freeport. He served in the Air Force during the Korean War from 1951-1955. He worked at Micro Switch – Honeywell for 36 years in Customer Service. After retiring he went on to work at the Stephenson County Senior Center as a bus driver and he was also a volunteer at FHN Memorial Hospital. Also after retirement he enjoyed doing yard work with his son.
Jack was a member of ZION Church of Freeport where he was very involved and served as an elder, a deacon and a Sunday School Teacher. His favorite leisure activities were watching Gun Smoke and Mash and spending time with his family.
He is survived by his wife, Norma of Freeport; His daughter, Susan (Kendel) Witte and son, Paul Stine all of Freeport; grandchildren, Erin (Eric) Korte of Lena and Matt (Bethany) Witte of Plainfield, IL; great grandchildren, Jax and Ella Korte and Owen Witte; brothers, Jim (Jeanette) Stine, Mike (Lanene) Stine, Russ (Sally) Stine all of Michigan; sister, Sherry (Elmer) Darnell also of Michigan; brother-in-law, Darwin Krieger of Michigan; and sister-in-law, Florence Stine of Louisiana.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Bettie and Kathryn Stine, Peg Krieger, and Leta Jogerst; and brothers, Gerald and Bert Stine.
