Jack A. Cole, 84, of Lower Macungie Twp., died on Thurs., June 30 at LifeQuest Nursing Center. He was the husband of Mary Lou (Scott) Cole who survives him. They were married on July 24, 1965. Jack was born in Kansas City, MO in 1932. He was a son of Forrest C. and Leyta (Modrell) Cole. He graduated from Southeast High School, Kansas City, Central Missouri State University with a BS in Education, Baker University in Baldwin City, KS with a BA in Economics, and did graduate work at Temple University and Penn State University. Jack’s passion was teaching Social Studies (geography, world culture, American and world history, and civics) at William Tennent High School in Warminster, PA. He retired in 1990. Jack enjoyed golfing, bowling, traveling, and reading. After retiring he enjoyed many trips across the country and several cruises to points of interest in this country, South America, Central America, and Europe. Jack also served in the Army from 1954-1956. He served in the 8234th Army Unit processing records at Moto Sumioshi, Japan. He was honorably discharged at the rank of Specialist 3rd Class. He also taught English Conversation to Japanese classes in Kawasaki for the American Culture Society. Jack was active in the United Church of Christ for many years and currently was a member of St. Paul’s UCC in Trexlertown, PA. Jack will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Mary Lou; son Scott and his wife Christine (Wagner) Cole of Quakertown; daughter Deborah and her husband Craig Stoltz of Quakertown; and three granddaughters, Hannah Cole, Rebecca Stoltz, and Brianna Stoltz. He is also survived by brothers Fred Cole of Lansdale and Donald Cole of Tunkhannock, and sister Nancy Zwart of Coopersburg.
