Jack A. Benedict, 74, of Newnan passed away on Monday, January 31, 2011, at his home. He was born in Marlette, Michigan to the late Clarence & Alice (Stigleman) Benedict.

Mr. Benedict is survived by his wife, Ruth Benedict and children; Gerri Benedict Butler & Ronnie Butler; Derek Benedict, Dale Benedict, Delyn Benedict Kennedy & David Kennedy, Jay & Frankie Benedict, Jerry Sifuentes and Nannette Buck.

He is also survived by grandchildren; Michael Butler, Heather Kennedy, Lindsay Kennedy, Cassie York, Emily Benedict & Christian Sifuentes, and great-grandchildren; Kodey Butler and Logan Butler. Mr. Benedict served in the Marines for 4 years where he trained as a jet engine mechanic. Then he served as a Charter Pilot and Instructor in North Carolina before his commercial pilot training in Winston-Salem, NC. He then began his career with Piedmont Airlines, which later merged with US Air. Jack retired as Captain with 30 years of service flying international routes. After retirement, he raised cattle and also was a member of the Volunteer Fire Dept. for Coweta County. He was an avid motorcycle rider. And was a member of Providence Baptist Church.
