Jace Kolby Jefferson, precious son, loving brother, special cousin, and an amazing friend, won his battle with brain cancer on November 11, 2016.

Jace faced daily struggles that many people never knew he even faced. He faced every challenge with courage and dignity. His positivity never ceased to amaze the people that witnessed his struggles. When his tumor grew he never gave up with faith and determination to live. Jace always told everybody that he was going to be just fine.

Most importantly throughout his journey he chose to inspire others. He encouraged people by never giving up and always having a bright smile on his face. His smile could light up a room upon his entrance and was absolutely infectious. Jace taught his friends and teammates to never give up and regardless the battle he was fighting he did just that. He fought with a “never give up” attitude and showed many just how strong his will was to live.

There were days after school that he would sleep until baseball practice started and would wake up to practice for hours only to fall right back to sleep immediately after practice, but none of his coaches or friends ever knew that it took every ounce of energy just to be a part of that team. There were days that he couldn’t even lift his head off the pillow, but that never stopped him from inspiring others to live with faith and a smile. That is the Hero we all grew to admire and look up to. He never let cancer stop him from living.

Being an inspiration was part of the way Jace chose to live. Jace lived to play baseball and was his sister’s biggest cheerleader. He loved being a part of BYBA and helped practice with his sister’s team at BYSA. He was actively involved in select baseball and played for Bulldog Baseball Academy until August. He was a part of the Leadership Team during elementary school and volunteered for Pasta for Pennies and was always eager to help others.  He always took the positive out of every situation, even when he was diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumor. He lived by two of his favorite quotes.

A life is not important except in the impact it has on other lives. – Jackie Robinson

Never let the fear of striking out get in your way. – Babe Ruth
