Dr. Jabulani Abednego Mantyi, “JABU,” 67, spent over 30 years as a Specialist Surgeon at Chris Hani Baragwanath Hospital, in South Africa. JABU was also a Lecturer at the College of Surgery at the University of Witwatersrand, and for seven years (7), he worked as a SOS Flight Doctor in Johannesburg, South Africa. JABU – Dr. Jabulani Abednego Mantyi passed away on August 21, 2022. at JFK Medical Center, Atlantis, Florida, USA.
Born on February 18, 1955, at Insiza, Zimbabwe. Attended University of Ghana on a Rhodes and Albeit British Government Scholarship where he earned a MBCHB (Medical Degree) 1979 to 1985. Then he obtained D.A. (Diploma in Anesthetics) from the University of Zimbabwe in 1989. In 2003 was awarded F.C.S (SA) Fellow of the College of Surgeons (South Africa). Dr Jabulani Abednego Mantyi’s professional interests were Trauma, Surgical Gastro-enterology, and Endocrine Surgery. Personal interests were Medicine (surgery), farming, reading, travelling, and working on cars.
Dr Jabulani Abednego Mantyi will be lovingly remembered by his sisters: Beatrice Mantyi Ncube, Eunice Moyo-Carter and her husband Talmon W. Carter, Adele Nkomo and her husband Richard Clifford Nkomo; Nephews: Thembani, Sambulo; Nieces: Collette, Nokuthemba, Leslie Ann; Cousin: Sibusisiwe and her husband Abner Mlalazi and many other relatives, friends and colleagues.
