J. Wayne Robertson, age 92, of Dalton ,Georgia passed away Saturday, November 13, 2021. He was born on December 3, 1928. J. Wayne Robertson was the true definition of a Minister of Music. J Wayne loved & lived to teach children, youth, adult, ‘Joyful Noise’ and hand-bell while directing choir rehearsals, performances, tours & recording.

He graduated from Middle Tennessee State University with a double Masters Degree in Music and Biology. From 1952-1954 during the Korean War, CPL Robertson proudly served as an Army Chaplain. After his Honorable Discharge, he & his college sweetheart, Ruth, were married & moved to Camilla, GA. He was hired as a full-time Music Minister & she as organist/pianist. Two years later, Reverend Robertson was called to the First Baptist Church here in Dalton where he served for 23 years. Next came Everett Springs Baptist until ‘retirement’ in 1993. This multi-faceted music man continued to bless Dug Gap Baptist with his talents until Heaven’s great choir welcomed JWR home!

Survivors are: wife-Ruth; sons/wives-Anthony/Vicki Robertson & Geoff/Jody Robertson; daughters/husbands-Janet/Randy Wensel & Amy/Tommy Gravitte. Grandchildren-Mallory Gravitte Travis, Kelsey Gravitte Cleveland, Haley Gravitte, Nathan Gravitte, Tyler Gravitte, Rylee Gravitte, Eric Gravitte, James Robertson, Sam Robertson, Lee Johnson, Wes Johnson. Great grandchildren: Caiden Travis, Cooper Hutchins, Hunter Johnson, Dash Johnson.
