Jay is survived by his wife Vivian, his son Robert, his daughter Bethany, his brother Donald Mitchell, and his sister Mavis Freeman. Jay was preceded in death by his parents Robert and Mozelle Mitchell and his brothers Buford, Hubert, Harrel, and Ronald.
