J.V. Cheek Jr., 86, died peacefully on September 5, 2020, surrounded by loving family. He was born April 27, 1934 in Columbia, Tennessee, the son of J.V. Cheek Sr. and Jewell Cothron Cheek.
J.V. resided most of his life in Gwinnett County. He married the love of his life, Brenda Sue Cheek, on April 24, 1986. They celebrated 34 years of marriage in April. J.V. spent over thirty years selling building material supplies in the community. He wore many other hats as a salon owner, auto parts driver, and remodeling businesses. J.V. was an active member of Ivy Creek Baptist Church and a member of Bible Believers Sunday School Class.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his infant son, Timothy Nim Cheek (February 5, 1955).
Surviving in addition to his wife, Brenda S. Cheek, are his son, Rex Cheek and spouse, Sandra Cheek of New Port Richey, FL; daughter, Kathy Cheek and spouse, Norman Hosch of Suwanee, GA; Duane Williford and spouse, Connie Williford of Buford, GA; and Nicole Coats of Buford, GA. J.V. has been richly blessed with ten grandchildren – Matt Cheek and spouse, Heather; Jeff Cheek, Oliver White and spouse, Rochelle; Covey White, Kylie Williford, Kinsey Williford, Elliott Coats, Caleb Williford, Paige Coats, and Zach Coats and spouse, Scarlet. J.V. has also been blessed with five great grandchildren – Andruw Vassy, Easton Cheek, Payton Coats, Declan Cheek, and Delaney Cheek. J.V. is also survived by his brother Jimmy Cheek of Nashville, TN; sisters, Valree Weaver and spouse, Bill Weaver of Woodbury, TN; Joan Oatts and spouse Larry Oatts of Hopkinsville, KY. And numerous nieces and nephews.
