J. Russell Thompson, 89, of Andover, husband of the late Dorothy (Jones) Thompson, died Tuesday Aug. 17, 2004 at the Douglas Manor in Windham. He was born Feb. 6, 1915 in Andover the son of Herbert and Ada (Walker) Thompson. A lifelong resident, Russell was active in Andover politics, including serving two terms as First Selectman. He was a charter member of the Andover Volunteer Fire Dept., serving many years as Assistant Chief and for four years as Chief.
