Legend has it that God danced on August 6, 1946, when J. Ken Nunley was born to James A. and Mildred L. (Trainer) Nunley in San Angelo, Texas. Family, law partners, clients, and his many friends have been dancing on that anniversary ever since! Nunley spent his entire legal career joyfully helping others in their search for justice. During a courageous battle with bladder cancer he taught all who knew him how to die. It was a generous, loving, and faith-filled example of how to live with joy, dignity, and courage to the end. Raised in Rocksprings, a product of a “Mayberry” childhood, he earned a BA in government from the University of Texas at Arlington and a JD from St. Mary”s University School of Law. He loved the law and advocated throughout Texas for clients in Uvalde with Dodson Nunley & Taylor, in San Antonio with Soules & Wallace, and in 1991, founded The Nunley Firm in Boerne. A highly-skilled trial attorney and mediator, Nunley was board certified in civil trial law, a fellow of the Texas Bar Foundation, member of and frequent seminar speaker for the State Bar of Texas, the American Board of Trial Advocates, the San Antonio, Kendall County, and Medina County Bar Associations. His peers designated him to be among the National Trial Lawyers Top 100, and a Texas Super Lawyer. Recently, the Civil District Judges of Bexar County honored “The Life and The Law According to J. Ken Nunley” in the 45th District Court on July 12, 2013. The cities of Boerne and Fair Oaks Ranch proclaimed August 13, 2013 J. Ken Nunley Day. Nunley”s love for God was evident. “I want to hug God,” was a frequent declaration that worked its way into his conversations. He was an active member of First United Methodist Church in Boerne for 22 years. In the summer of 2010, he and Tara went on a mission trip to Uganda. J. Ken Nunley will be dearly missed by his wife Teri Thomas Nunley, and their children, Tara Nunley who attends Baylor University, J. Kailey Nunley who attends the University of Texas at Austin, and his previous wife Sujane Thurman, San Antonio, their children and grandchildren: Kimberly and Jim Simpson, Fair Oaks Ranch, and Cole who attends Texas A&M University, J. Blake Nunley of Dallas and Austin, Abby, Alec, and Ashley, sister Marsha Nunley, M.D., Sausalito, California, and nieces Stacy Patton Anderson and Sara Kureska. Ken recorded an inspiring journal at .
