James “Doyle” Shake, 86, of Linton, IN, and formerly of Sandborn, IN, passed away Thursday, November 22, 2007, at the Lyons Health and Living Center in Lyons, Indiana. He was born April 26, 1921, to Sherman and Viola Fern (Watt) Shake. On May 3, 1047, he married Ruth Marie Heidenreich.

Doyle was a farmer, livestock hauler, and a U.S. mail carrier. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and received a Purple Heart.

Survivors include his three daughters, Beth (Fred) Phillips of Cookeville, TN, Kay (T.J.) Ball of Linton and Belinda Atlogic of Oquawka, IL; two sons, Brent Shake of Cookeville, TN and Brad (Robin) Shake of Naples, FL; nine grandchildren: Lisa, Lee, Kimberly, Justin, Adina, Matthew, Justin, Jim and Lisa; two sisters, Helene Davidson of Lyons and Ruth Jane O’Dell of Mooresville; one brother, Harry Shake of Sandborn. Also surviving are sixteen great-grandchildren.

Doyle was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Ruth Marie Shake, on August 8, 2004; one daughter, Karen Shake; two son-in-laws, John Atlogic and Rex Hollingsworth; one brother, Bert Shake.
