Ivan Whitney Foster, 90, of Milford, passed away peacefully on February 5, 2015 surrounded by his loving family. He was born November 19, 1924 to the late Cary and Evelyn Foster in Bridgeport, CT.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving in both World War II and the Korean War as a second-class aerial photographer. He earned his Bachelor of Arts from the University of Pennsylvania, and his Master of Fine Arts from the University of Delaware. He was a certified teacher who taught middle and high school art for 20 years. After his retirement from teaching, he worked for North Sails of Milford as a Sail maker. He was a lover of learning, teaching, art, music, coffee, gardening, cooking, Tai Chi and Fox News. Above all else, he was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.
Ivan is survived by his daughter Gretchen Foster of Milford, his granddaughter Rebecca Lattanzi and her husband Damian Lattanzi of Milford; his two great-grandchildren Phinneas and Violet Lattanzi of Milford and a host of nieces, nephews, family members and friends who loved him deeply. He was predeceased by his loving wife of 42 years, Helen (Kushma) Foster, great-grandson Lukas Andrew Lattanzi, his sisters Elaine and Virginia and his brother Bill.
