Ivan Lobay, 104, of 873 Orange Center Road, Orange, passed away in St. Raphael Hospital on March 3, 2016. He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Halyna, in 2007. Prof. Lobay, son of the late Stephan and Klementyna Lobay, was born in Kovtuny, Ukraine on October 4, 1911.
He worked as a Professional Engineer and university professor in Ukraine, Czechoslovakia, Germany, Venezuela, Algeria and the United States. He was a Professor at the College of Engineering at the University of New Haven for 15 years and taught post-graduate courses at Yale University.
He is survived by his two daughters, Maria Lobay of Orange and Halyna Vitagliano, M.D. of Boston. He was also predeceased by three sisters and one brother.
