Ivan Kostal, 64, passed away on Feb. 18, in his home in Fort Walton Beach, Fla., after a long battle with cancer. Ivan was born in Iran and immigrated to the U.S. with his family in 1955. He graduated from high school in New Jersey and attended college in Alabama. Ivan moved to Fort Walton Beach in 1981 and made numerous friends everywhere he went. He was a tireless and compassionate volunteer for the local hospice. Ivan worked at Home Depot for over six years and touched the hearts of all his associates. He attained the Knights of Columbus, 4th degree in Fort Walton Beach’s Assembly 1564. He his survived by his daughter, Desire Durka, and his brother, Ike.
