Iva Katherine Newby, 98,of Crawfordsville died at 4:30 p.m.,Wednesday,in her home. Born Jan. 24, 1911, in Pulaski, Ky., she was the daughter of Lacy and Eva Holt Sipple.
She had been a cook and a waitress in several area restaurants. She owned Home Cafe in Darlington in the 1960’s. Survivors include two sons,Glen (Carol) Taylor of Crawfordsville and Curt (Wendy) Newby of Ladoga; two daughters,Alma (Bill) Hole and Helen Williams, both of Crawfordsville;19 grandchildren;44 great-grandchildren; and 39 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Betty Stonebraker; five brothers; and three sisters.
